The story behind the brand

How it all started ...

I have always loved being around young children.

Ever since I was a little myself, I was

- helping out my family daycare professional with all the other children,

- playing with the neighbour's young children next door, and

- very willingly helping Mum and Dad with my little brother (I was 10 when he was born)

Years of working in various areas of early childhood and primary school, including

- working in Out of School Hours Care centres as Assistant Director and Director,

- working in primary schools as a Reception classroom's student support & the Kitchen teacher (Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program),

- working in early years learning centres across all age groups in multiple roles including as room leader and acting Kindy teacher,

- and my humble beginnings as a babysitter when I was still in school myself...

...finally lead me to working with an Adelaide Nanny agency. It is here that I realised that Nannying was definitely the next step in my journey working with children. With a combination of the skill sets built throughout the years, including already having dipped my toe into small business owner life, I felt confident to take the leap and go out on my own as a privately hired nanny. This is when Nanny Cryssie was born in September of 2022.

Alongside my lifelong passion for working with children, I also had a dream of writing my own children's book. A realistic, attainable dream - not like my dream at 13 when I wanted to become a celebrity singer (haha). In 2024, I self-published my first children's book, "How to Build a Rainbow". I hope to self-publish many more in the future.

About me

Who am I outside of my business, you ask? Even though they are inextricably linked, as I am my brand, here is a little taste of the person I am.

I am an ADHD'er with endless ideas and creativity. I love bringing my ideas to life wherever I can and letting my creativity and spontaneity take me places. I love creating with my hands. My favourites at the moment are renovating and styling my home, making my own homewares with clay, and digital illustrations.

I am a dog mum to Sir Snoop Fluffington, my miniature long-hair Dachshund, who is my absolute world. I founded a volunteer-run Dachshund group for Dachshund owners within the Fleurieu Peninsula in January 2024. If you see a large group of Dachshunds (a sizzle of sausages) together down-south in Adelaide, then it is likely us.

Some of my other loves include movie nights, gardening, catching up with friends over a cuppa and being a home body.

Nanny Cryssie acknowledges that we are meeting on the traditional country of the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains and pays respect to Elders past and present. We recognize and respect their cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship with the land. We acknowledge that they are of continuing importance to the Kaurna people living today.
