Frequently asked questions

Do you have availability?

My availability is constantly shifting and changing. So, the answer to this isn't straight forward.

If you would like to become a part of the Nanny Cryssie crew, please check out Nannying booking enquiries on my Nannying page and go from there.

How long before I can get off the waitlist?

There is no realistic timeline available here. The reality is, my waitlist is always outgrowing my capacity to take new clients onboard, and my availability is constantly shifting and changing.

Having said that, unless you are on the waitlist, you won't be notified and considered for availability. You can join the waitlist on the nannying page.

What happens once our family gets approved for nannying sessions?

Once we have lined up our schedules, the next steps will be to:

1. Book in a meet and greet session in person. In unique circumstances we can do a phone call instead. See the question "what happens during a meet and greet session" for more info.

2. You will receive an enrolment email. You'll fill in your enrolment form and have a look through some of our policies and procedures.

3. We will be able to commence sessions once we have met and you are enrolled.

What happens during a meet and greet session?

A meet and greet is an opportunity for you (the parents/caregivers) and your child(ren) to meet me (Nanny Cryssie). This creates space for all to become acquainted before we jump into our first session. This is particularly important if you will be a regular and ongoing client. This is also a great time to get any questions answered.

An in-person meet and greet can be up to one hour.

How much do you charge?

Please see my services and pricing on my Nannying page.

Where does care take place?

In your home. Care starts in your home. From there, we may stay home or venture out to playgrounds, playgroups, excursions and more.

What is In-Home Care?

In-Home Care is care provided in or around your family home. I come to your home and use that as the base for care. From your home, we may venture out on excursions, walks and more. Depending on your needs as a family.

How does transport work?

I will transport children to scheduled activities and events. I am trained and experienced at installing car seat restraints. And my vehicle is regularly serviced and kept road worthy.

My car is fully equipped above and beyond the legal safety standard with 2 rear/forward facing car seat restraints for up to approximately age 4, 1 rear/foward facing car seat restraint for up to approximately ages 6/7, and two built in booster seats. I recommend travel with a newborn/infant up to 5/6months old to be in a capsule (which we do not provide).

I can transport your little ones in my vehicle from age 3 months and above; unless you provide a capsule for transport. I can transport up to 3-5 children in my vehicle where appropriate seating arrangements are provided.

Do you have all your checks?

Absolutely!

All checks and training are always kept in date, including:

Working with children check / DCSI screening

Responding to Risk of harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education and Care (RRHAN-EC)

First Aid and CPR

Car safety training

ANA codes of conduct

Early Childhood Cert 3 equivalent

Proof of currency can be provided at the time of the meet and greet and are also accessible through the Nanny Cryssie client portal (for ongoing clients).

Do you provide In-Home Care Rebate?

We do not, unfortunately. Currently, the childcare subsidy is not accessible to private in-home care childcare providers like myself.

Nanny or Babysitter? What is the difference?

A babysitter supervises children, usually for short periods, such as a few hours in the evening – often the children are in bed for a considerable amount of the time spent babysitting or very little is expected of the babysitter.

A professional nanny is usually a trained and experienced child carer. A nanny takes responsibility for the daily needs of the child or children in their care. This includes planning daily activities, preparing meals, and helping the children with care routines such as bathing.

What’s the difference between a nanny and a housekeeper?

Nannies look after children, housekeepers look after houses. Whilst a nanny will keep the work and children’s area tidy, clean up after preparing meals for the children, and do odd cleaning jobs here and there to support you; it is not a nanny’s role to do general housework.
